Course Description
This course provides an introductory overview of the essential radiation safety and security principles that every worker in a medical facility should understand. It introduces learners to the uses of ionizing radiation in diagnostic radiology, computed tomography, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, dental imaging, and mobile radiography. The course explains the difference between radiation-generating equipment and radioactive materials, as well as the distinction between radiation exposure and radioactive contamination

Target Audience
This course is intended for employees, contractors, support personnel, and supervised visitors working in hospitals, clinics, dental centres, diagnostic imaging departments, nuclear medicine services, radiotherapy facilities, and other medical facilities that use ionizing radiation. The target audience includes clinical personnel, nurses, patient-care assistants, radiographers and technologists, porters, reception and scheduling staff, housekeeping personnel, waste handlers, maintenance staff, biomedical engineers, information technology personnel, security staff, contractors, supervisors, managers, and other workers who may enter radiation-use areas, support patients, manage access, maintain equipment or facilities, handle waste or linen, or receive and communicate radiation safety information. No previous technical training in radiation protection is required
